About this world

GJ 2030 b is a sub-Neptune orbiting GJ 2030, a yellow, Sun-like star 121 light-years from Earth. It is about 2 times the size of Earth (its size estimated from its mass), with at least 4.8 Earth masses (a minimum, measured by radial velocity). It completes an orbit every 2.38 days at 0.034 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.24).

Its equilibrium temperature is about 2,147 K (1,874 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. By the "cosmic shoreline", its star has probably stripped its atmosphere away, leaving bare rock.

It was discovered in 2022 by radial velocity with Multiple Observatories. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. GJ 2030 has 2 known planets; the others are GJ 2030 c.
