About this world

DH Tau b is a gas giant orbiting DH Tau, a cool red dwarf (type M0.5) 440 light-years from Earth. It is about 2.7 times the size of Jupiter and holds 11 Jupiter masses.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 2,200 K (1,927 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2004 by direct imaging with Subaru Telescope. The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph.
