About this world

DENIS-P J082303.1-491201 b is a gas giant orbiting DENIS-P J082303.1-491201, a star (type L1.5) 67.7 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 29 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 246 days at 0.36 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun, on a strongly elongated orbit (e = 0.34).

At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2013 by other methods with Paranal Observatory. Astrometry, orbital brightness modulation and disk kinematics.
