About this world

DE CVn b is a gas giant orbiting DE CVn, a cool red dwarf 99.6 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass), with at least 12 Jupiter masses (a minimum, measured by radial velocity). It completes an orbit every 11.2 years at 5.8 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 47 K (−226 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2018 by timing variations with Multiple Facilities. Pulsar, eclipse or transit timings drift as an unseen companion tugs on them.
