About this world

CoRoT-9 b is a gas giant orbiting CoRoT-9, a yellow, Sun-like star (type G3V) 1.35 thousand light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter and holds 0.84 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 95.3 days at 0.4 AU from its star.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 420 K (147 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2009 by transit with CoRoT. A planet crosses its star and dims it by a tiny, periodic fraction.
