About this world

BD-06 1339 b is a gas giant orbiting BD-06 1339, an orange dwarf (type K7/M0V) 66.1 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 4.8 Jupiter masses. It completes an orbit every 3.87 days at 0.043 AU from its star, closer than Mercury is to the Sun.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 835 K (562 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2013 by radial velocity with La Silla Observatory. The star wobbles toward and away from us, Doppler-shifting its spectrum. BD-06 1339 has 2 known planets; the others are BD-06 1339 c.
