About this world

2MASS J22501512+2325342 b is a gas giant orbiting 2MASS J22501512+2325342, a cool red dwarf (type M3) 187 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 30 Jupiter masses.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 1,600 K (1,327 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2018 by direct imaging with The 2 (Two) Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS). The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph.
