About this world
2MASS J04414489+2301513 b is a gas giant orbiting 2MASS J04414489+2301513, a cool red dwarf (type M8.5) 393 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.1 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 7.5 Jupiter masses.
Its equilibrium temperature is about 18 K (−256 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.
It was discovered in 2010 by direct imaging with Hubble Space Telescope. The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph.
