About this world

2MASS J02192210-3925225 b is a gas giant orbiting 2MASS J02192210-3925225, a cool red dwarf (type M6) 131 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.4 times the size of Jupiter and holds 14 Jupiter masses.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 6 K (−267 °C): too cold for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2015 by direct imaging with Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory. The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph.
