About this world

2M0437 b is a gas giant orbiting 2MASS J04372171+2651014, a cool red dwarf (type MV) 419 light-years from Earth. It is about 1.2 times the size of Jupiter (its size estimated from its mass) and holds 4 Jupiter masses.

Its equilibrium temperature is about 1,450 K (1,177 °C): far too hot for liquid water on its surface. At its size it almost certainly keeps a deep envelope of hydrogen and helium.

It was discovered in 2021 by direct imaging with Subaru Telescope. The planet itself is photographed, its star blocked by a coronagraph.
